The Coast Guard said the alert was raised at 9:48 a.m. local time. The collision site is located off the coast of Hull, about 250 kilometers north of London. It is noted that several rescue boats, a helicopter and a coast guard aircraft were sent to the scene of the incident, as well as additional ships capable of fighting the fire. “There have been reports that several people have left the vessels following the collision and fires broke out on both ships,” the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) said in a statement. It added that three rescue boats are involved in the search and rescue operation at the scene along with the coast guard.
