The criminal case was opened under Part 2 of Article 360 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - an attack on individuals or institutions enjoying international protection to complicate international relations. On February 24, unidentified individuals threw three bottles with an unidentified explosive substance onto the territory of the Russian consulate in Marseille. Two out of the three containers exploded.
