Prosecutor General’s office of the Russian Federation is investigating the case because of the seizure of the “House of Moscow” in Riga

A source in the department told RBC that prosecutors intend to give a legal assessment of attempts to sell the asset. The Prosecutor General’s Office has strengthened monitoring of the situation with foreign property of the Russian Federation against the background of the desire of foreign states to “commit criminal actions against Russian assets.” Another source of the publication after reviewing the materials of the Ministry confirmed this information. “Given the illegal actions against Russian property, the investigative authorities opened a criminal case, the Prosecutor General’s Office took the investigation under control, on the facts of illegal actions <...> a legal assessment will be given up to a criminal one, the perpetrators will be declared wanted,” the source said. According to both sources, the criminal case was opened in March 2024, after which the Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow at a closed session decided to seize the building. In the summer of 2021, the State Duma adopted a law giving the Prosecutor General’s Office the right to represent Russia in foreign courts. Russia’s foreign ministry has promised “painful retaliation” if the West proceeds with asset confiscation.
