Rospotrebnadzor: the situation with metapneumovirus in Russia remains stable

Earlier Telegram-channel SHOT wrote that allegedly in Russia spread from China disease, similar to the symptoms of metapneumovirus, at risk children. It is noted that all patients have the same symptoms - a temperature of about 38 degrees, a week that does not subside, chills, severe cough and shortness of breath. According to SHOT, metapneumovirus was recorded in Buryatia, the Altai Republic and the Sverdlovsk region. In Rospotrebnadzor said that since 2010, testing for metapneumovirus, the situation is under control, in recent years, the virus “circulated at a low level.” The situation with metapneumovirus infection in Russia remains stable. In winter there is a seasonal increase in the number of cases of diseases caused by acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), – stated in the message on the website of Rospotrebnadzor. According to the agency, the seasonal growth of diseases is associated with cold and high humidity. Signs of metapneumovirus are runny nose, cough and high fever, occasionally infection can cause severe pneumonia. The agency advised washing hands with soap, avoiding close contact with people with symptoms, regular cleaning and disinfection. Earlier, Deputy President of the Russian Academy of Education, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, epidemiologist Gennady Onishchenko said that at the moment there is no urgent need to develop a vaccine against metapneumovirus.
