According to him, the self-propelled division shot 1,200 ammunition overnight. “If the artillery had not helped, we would not have survived the night. The coordinates given by our officers, they were straight down, and there was hope that you would survive. And when it came to the end, he said, "Hey, guys, hold on, there's going to be help, everybody." I started to lose consciousness a little bit, he came up to me, knocked on my face, rubbed it with snow and mud and said, "Is it okay?" I say, "Everything's fine." And when we already had five or six people left, probably on the support line, where we were shooting back, I see some silhouettes that are climbing up the mountain to us. I [took] a machine gun, I already wanted to shoot and shout: "Who?" And I hear them shouting from below, "Major Dostavalov." I know his voice, I know him, and I have hope, I should have felt it. We did not know how many children came, but help came, Suponinsky recalled. Major Alexander Dostavalov took advantage of a short lull during the battle and headed the platoon to the rescue of his comrades. On the night of March 1, 2000, Pskov paratroopers heroically died in an unequal battle with Chechen gangs. The 6th company of the 76th Guards Air Assault Division was ordered to take height in the Argun Gorge. They had to stop the militants who were going to go to Dagestan and commit a series of terrorist attacks there. In the battle at the height of 776 killed 84 paratroopers, losses from Chechen militants estimated from 400 to 500 people.
