A high percentage of expulsions of Olympiads is associated with certain indicators, Elena Ovakimyan, one of the authors of the study, an expert on school education at the HSE Center for General and Additional Education, noted on the air of Vesti FM. “I would not generalize here that it is difficult for all schoolchildren who enter universities on the basis of the Olympiads to study. This article we conducted, referring to the data of our university, a fairly effective university. We watched educational programs such as mathematics and computer science.” Here, the authors of the article are faced with the fact that this direction is accepted quite a large number of graduates who enter the Olympiads, so the percentage of deductions of Olympiads is quite high compared to other educational programs, Ovakimyan explains. “Already interviewing students, we learned from them the reasons why they may not have time and are expelled from the university.” There are several reasons for expulsion from universities - children immerse themselves in only one subject, and at the university you need to engage in several disciplines equally. The second reason is that they are simply bored, because by the first year they already know part of the university program. The third reason is that applicants want to find a job as soon as possible and the fourth reason is the poor preparation of participants in the Olympiads.
