Mayor Dmitry Makhinya, together with the deputies, decided to assign to all soldiers living in Tomsk the title of Honorary Citizen of the city. This was reported in his Telegram channel.
For this, the order of awarding the award was adjusted. The task in this way to express respect to the surviving participants of the Great Patriotic War in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Victory was set by our President Vladimir Putin. I wholeheartedly support this initiative. This is not only respect and care for our veterans, but also an example for the younger generation, an important link in historical memory. The awards will be presented by the speaker of the Duma of Tomsk Sergey Sechenov and the mayor of the city Dmitry Makhinya. Today, 12 front-line soldiers live in Tomsk: Alexander Kovalenko, Anatoly Petrov, Vasily Zenchenko, Alexey Zelepugin, Anatoly Parubin, Fedor Bondarenko, Nadezhda Zubova, Sergey Kostyk, Nikolai Odintsov, Vasily Sokolov, Tatiana Krontseva and Anna Surikova.
