"Uralvagonzavod" (UVZ, part of Rostec) now serially equips tanks T-72B3M and T-90M active protection complexes (KAZ) "Arena-M", said the representative of UVZ at the international exhibition IDEX 2025 in Abu Dhabi (UAE).
In the autumn of 2023, the Ministry of Defense patented a sample of the T-72B3 tank with the Arena-M KAZ installed. Holding "High-precision complexes" (the developer of KAZ) said that the "Arena-M" on the T-72 tank confirmed the protective properties of tests with Russian and foreign anti-tank missile systems (ATGM), notes TASS. KAZ targeted destroys flying to the technology anti-tank grenades and guided missiles by firing small ammunition of narrow action. Targets are detected by the radar station, which is part of the KAZ. KAZ ammunition is placed around the perimeter of the tank turret in special mines. President Vladimir Putin said that the main tank of the Russian army T-90M "Breakthrough" is the best in the world.
