The United States Department of Justice has again asked Google to change the structure and sell the Chrome browser.
The Washington Post, citing the relevant ruling, indicated that the court will decide on judicial protection measures in April. “The government is again saying that Google should abandon the Chrome browser in order to give a new competitor the ability to operate an important gateway for searching the Internet, free from Google’s monopoly control,” the statement said. According to the publication, the US authorities also retained a proposal to prohibit Google from paying other companies for providing its search engine with preferential placement in their applications and smartphones. Earlier, the US authorities proposed to change the structure of Google in order to deprive it of the ability to use the Chrome Internet browser, the mobile app store, and the Android operating system as advantages for Google search engine to the detriment of competitors.
