A solemn concert dedicated to Defender of the Fatherland Day took place at the Volgograd Philharmonic. The main stage featured the academic symphony orchestra. Soloists performed patriotic and lyrical compositions about love for the Motherland, heroism, valor, and honor. How did the audience evaluate the program?

The composition emerged in 1972. "Ballad of Colors," with lyrics by Robert Rozhdestvensky, tells the stories of participants in the Great Patriotic War. On February 23, this song is one of the first to be performed on stage. Soloist Natalya Dolgaleva tells and performs this piece with special reverence. "A mother sent two sons off to war, and two returned from there. I will be in a white dress. Still, it is a celebration that the sons have returned. I am a mother myself. I have brothers, relatives, acquaintances who are now behind the ribbon, so this song is closer to me," says soloist Natalya Dolgaleva of the Volgograd Philharmonic. The program of the festive concert titled "There is a date in snowy February..." included songs from the wartime years. Classical compositions that are known throughout the country as well as those that have appeared recently were performed on stage. They are dedicated to various historical periods. "This is a chronicle of victories of the Russian people. The compositions presented are dedicated to events starting from the victories of Alexander Nevsky in 1812. Of course, to the victory in the Great Patriotic War. And to current events, special military operations," says conductor Igor Demchenko of the Volgograd Academic Symphony Orchestra. The State Ensemble of Russian Cossacks "Kazachiy Kuren" also presented their best numbers. All the participants of the concert are confident that such performances are an opportunity to say "thank you" to all defenders of the Fatherland. "Such a wonderful holiday, and we are very happy and proud that our orchestra is holding such a concert. I want to wish all the participants of the Armed Forces and all our defenders good health," congratulates the Honored Artist of Russia, concertmaster of the Volgograd Academic Symphony Orchestra Alexey Venediktov. The creative program found a lively response from the Volgograd audience. "We all grew up on these songs, so that period, the history of our country, evokes exclusively a surge of patriotic emotions in every citizen," explains Alexey Kravchenko. "Now, as we listen, it is impossible to express in words. It is both sorrow and joy with tears in our eyes," says Natalya Vinogradova. Legendary songs and new compositions are performed together on one stage, seemingly connecting different eras. But what unites them is the theme of love for the Motherland, reports GTRK "Volgograd-TRV".
