The theater is constantly evolving, trying to make sense of the present time. Choreographer, director, and actress Alla Sigalova said this in an interview with the TV channel "Russia Kultura."
Thus, she commented on the fear of some theater directors to stage productions based on the works of great classics, such as Vsevolod Meyerhold. "In general, great works require respect, attention, interest, curiosity, and study. One must work. Theater is moving forward with incredible steps. It evolves, pulsates, beats, tries to digest the present time, tries to understand what today's context is. Therefore, one must be bold," the actress stated. This year, the Moscow Sovremennik Theater presented a new musical production by Alla Sigalova titled "Happiness." The performance, based on Mayakovsky's play "The Bedbug," was created based on a libretto written by poet Yuliy Kim in collaboration with composer Vladimir Dashkevich.
