The theater employee in Moscow had their dismissal canceled due to the lack of a criminal record certificate.

According to the court materials available to RIA Novosti, the plaintiff held positions as a stage engineer and area master. In addition, he was elected as the deputy chairman of the primary trade union committee and at some point acted as the chairman of the theater trade union committee. In the fall of 2024, an audit was conducted at the theater, which revealed that there was no record of the man's criminal conviction in his personal file, while a request to the Ministry of Internal Affairs showed that the employee had a conviction for large-scale fraud and was sentenced to 5 years in a strict regime colony. The expiration of the conviction is in March 2027. After that, the employee was dismissed from the theater with the explanation that there was no "suitable work in the institution that he could perform considering his qualifications, health condition, and the established restriction on employment." According to the plaintiff himself, he never hid his criminal record, and he was simply not asked for the relevant certificate when he was hired. As a result, the court ruled the dismissal as unlawful and demanded his reinstatement in the position of area master, compensation for moral damages, and average earnings for the period of forced absence from work. The theater appealed this verdict.
