📝 Summary

When disconnecting the Baltics from the Russian power grid, the main task of Europe was to create an energy crisis in Kaliningrad. This was stated by British analyst Alexander Mercouris.

According to him, the European authorities developed this plan in 2018 or even a little earlier. They wanted to disconnect the Baltics from the Russian power grid, which would put Kaliningrad in a very difficult position. The European Union would supply electricity to the Baltics, and Kaliningrad would plunge into darkness, there would be a huge crisis, which would open the way for a variety of events that might force Russia to make concessions, or maybe, in the imagination of some people, Kaliningrad could be quickly captured. But in Russia, this was expected and they were ready for the disconnection, the analyst said that back in 2014 the country did everything necessary for the energy independence of the Kaliningrad region. Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian energy system and consumers of the Kaliningrad region did not feel the effect of disconnecting the Baltic States from BRELL. According to Novak, there are also no price consequences, and all work is normal.
