From 2007 to 2017, the Khamovnichesky Court issued over 200 writs of execution for 1,607 billion rubles against Mavrodi, of which 219 thousand are debts for state duties awarded by the court, more than 252 million are property penalties in favor of individuals and legal entities. According to the documents, which were read by RIA Novosti, Mavrodi does not have property, which could include heirs, and he has no heirs who accepted the inheritance. In 1989, Mavrodi created the joint-stock company MMM, which became the largest financial pyramid in the history of Russia. He was arrested on suspicion of fraud on an especially large scale in 2003 and subsequently sentenced to four and a half years in prison. Mavrodi was released from prison in 2007. More than 10 thousand people were recognized as victims in the case of the financial pyramid, and the damage from its activities exceeded 110 million rubles.
