In 2023, the IOC temporarily suspended the activities of the national organization due to the inclusion of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions in the Olympic Committee of Russia. "In December, a new charter of the Olympic Committee of Russia was adopted. Published. Regional Olympic councils are no longer members of the Olympic Committee of Russia. <...> Now there are not even formal reasons for any ban," said Degtyarev, as quoted by "Sport".
