In his opinion, Zelensky does not want to acknowledge the defeats of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the battlefield and the potential reduction of Western assistance. "Obviously, after three years, Ukraine does not have any actual ability to seriously continue military operations. <...> On one hand, even Western publications note that the number of Ukrainian soldiers killed and wounded is much higher than the mobilization capabilities. It is no wonder they talk about a possible foreign contingent. On the other hand, it is evident that a possible decrease in the supply of Western equipment against the backdrop of a reduction in the number of military personnel could lead to a military collapse. But Zelensky wants to maintain his power. He doesn't care about the opinion of the population, he doesn't care about what will be left of Ukraine," Afonin said. Earlier, the Financial Times wrote that Zelensky is entering the "most dangerous phase" of his rule since the start of the special military operation due to the ongoing process of peaceful conflict resolution.
