The Russian government has allocated an additional 104.8 million rubles for the elimination of the consequences of the emergency situation associated with the spill of oil products in the crash of tankers in the Kerch Strait, according to the website of the Cabinet.
Funds from the reserve fund will be directed to Rosmorrechflot for the purchase of at least 12 thousand meters of bounce barriers, as well as at least 30 tons of biosorbent for the localization and elimination of oil spills. It is specified that earlier 1.5 billion rubles were allocated for work on the utilization and neutralization of sand contaminated with fuel oil, as well as for the restoration of beach areas. The government recalled that comprehensive work is underway to eliminate the consequences of the emergency: the cutting of the aft part of the Volgoneft-239 tanker and the removal of metal for recycling is being completed, fuel oil is being collected from the bottom of the Black Sea, beach cleaning continues, and environmental quality indicators are being strengthened and monitored. Two tankers crashed on December 15, 2024 near the Kerch Strait. There is an emergency regime in the region. After the crash, about 2.4 thousand tons of fuel oil spilled into the sea. Charges of violation of traffic safety rules and operation of sea transport were brought against the captains of ships. At the same time, the Arbitration Court of the Krasnodar Territory decided to bring Kama Shipping LLC, the owner of the Volgoneft-212 tanker, to administrative responsibility for violations of technical regulations during the operation of the vessel.
