In Lipetsk Orthodox churches on January 24, the Yelets Icon of the Mother of God is venerated

Today, the Orthodox Church honors the Yelets Icon of the Mother of God. According to legend, the icon appeared to St. Anthony of Pechersk in 1060 standing on a fir tree. The Queen of Heaven, depicted on the Yelets icon, is most often asked for protection from enemies and enemy invasions. Stories of the miraculous acquisition of Orthodox shrines are kept in many regions of Russia. For example, in Yaroslavl, the image of the “Savior Not Made by Hands” is revered - according to legend, the icon appeared to the militia during the Time of Troubles. Details were told by the correspondent of GTRK “Yaroslavia” Marina Romakina. The miraculous image of the Savior was revealed in 1612 during the formation of the second people’s militia in Yaroslavl under the leadership of Kuzma Minin and Prince Dmitry Pozharsky. At this time, the city suffered a pestilence. According to the chronicles, after the procession with the icon, the epidemic stopped, and during the procession several miracles occurred.
