📝 Summary

Five young people accused of setting fire to a Ka-32 firefighting helicopter and a relay cabinet near the railway in April 2024 appeared in court. Four of them admitted guilt, only the accused girl believes it was a quest.

The case under Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (sabotage) and Part 2 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorism) is being considered by the 2nd Western Military District Court. According to the prosecution's version, a 21-year-old native of Novosibirsk organized a criminal group. He communicated with opponents of the Russian authorities on the internet. Through a chat on one of the Telegram channels, the young man met a person connected to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). That person suggested to the young man to create a group to carry out terrorist acts and sabotage. For each such action, the group was supposed to receive from the Ukrainian side from several tens of thousands to a million rubles. By the end of 2023, the Novosibirsk man had assembled the group. It included three Siberians who had moved to the capital, and a native of Norilsk, who perceived everything as an adventure. The SBU handlers suggested to the group to set fire to a relay cabinet on the railway section Odintsovo-Golitsyno of the Belarusian direction. They were paid several tens of thousands of rubles for this crime. For setting fire to a helicopter in the parking lot at "Severnaya" in Ostafyevo Airport, the handlers promised the young people 3 million rubles. They transferred 10,000 rubles to the organizer's card for preliminary expenses: buying a lighter, gasoline, wire cutters, and lemonade, in bottles of which they later poured flammable liquid. On the night of April 26, 2024, the defendants infiltrated the airport territory, where they set fire to a covered with tarpaulin fire helicopter, which completely burned down. The Western Interregional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee on Transport initiated a criminal case on the terrorist act. On April 30, all five suspects were remanded in custody by court order. If the suspects are found guilty, they face twenty-year prison sentences.
