Two Ukrainians sentenced to long terms for terrorist attacks in the DPR and espionage

It was established that in May 2022, the former serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Alexander Sahakyan, after the liberation of Mariupol, joined the terrorist community created in the city by an employee of the GUR of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. In January 2023, he attracted Alena Goltvenko to the community, who before the SVO was an interrogator of the National Police of Ukraine in Mariupol. They set fire to three cars with patriotic symbols. In addition, from February to June 2023, Sahakyan used a fake Ukrainian passport. From March to June of the same year, on the instructions of the SBU, he collected and transmitted information about the location of Russian air defense systems between the villages of Ukrainka and Malinovka, Volodarsky district of the DPR. The man was detained in June 2023, when he took an explosive device from a stash intended to undermine the car of servicemen of the Russian Armed Forces. Depending on the role and degree of participation, Sahakyan and Goltvenko were found guilty of participating in a terrorist community, committing a terrorist attack by a group of persons by prior conspiracy, trafficking in explosives and explosive devices, involving a person in committing crimes, espionage, as well as storage, transportation for the purpose of using a knowingly fake passport of a citizen. According to the court decision, Sahakyan was sentenced to 22 years in prison and a fine of 550 thousand rubles, Goltvenko – to 18 years.
