He said this in response to the discussions that arose after Matvienko’s speech. “Let us not sensationalize where there are none. V.I. Matviyenko did not propose to restrict the rights of applicants from the regions to enter the capital’s universities, Klishas stressed. Earlier, on March 12, at a meeting in the Federation Council, Matviyenko expressed an opinion on the need to reduce the enrollment of students from the regions to universities in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Kazan. She noted that the capital’s universities attract applicants from all over the country, but graduates often face difficulties in finding work in the specialty due to the excess of specialists in the labor market.
