Matvienko believes that it is necessary to create a new cultural elite from the participants of the SVO

She supported the initiative of the head of state Vladimir Putin to begin the process of renewal of the political elite of the country from the ranks of the SVO fighters and proposed to similarly engage in the renewal of the cultural elite of Russia. According to the speaker of the upper house of parliament, the popularization of the creativity of the SVO participants is necessary for the culture of our country. With the arrival of the works of those who were at the front in different spheres of art, the “spiritual health of society” and the connection with the “real, authentic Russia” are strengthened, Matvienko said. I am convinced that the first duty of the state, the media and creative organizations is to create conditions for talented people to come to literature, theater, cinema, music, television and fine arts, who know firsthand about the harsh everyday life of military operations. So that their work was known and accessible to as many Russians as possible, she wrote in her blog on the website of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation. Matvienko also spoke about those artists whose reaction to the events of the special operation was restrained. She noted that “under the pen” of some representatives of different spheres did not come the proper number of works that tell about the SVO and which could enter and gain a foothold in popular culture. At the same time, she noted that many famous personalities did not stand aside and clearly showed their patriotism. “In this regard, it is impossible not to notice that, as in the years of the Great Patriotic War, there is a rapid growth in the creative activity of the members of the SVO themselves, cultural figures of the reunited territories,” the senator said. She added that the Federation Council will continue to improve the laws protecting the rights of soldiers and their families, and congratulated Russians and military personnel on Defender of the Fatherland Day.
