Kommersant: sales of Russian agricultural machinery fell by 32% in January

This result is significantly worse than last year, when sales fell by 17.6%, to 198.4 billion rubles, including VAT. The association attributes this dynamic to a number of factors. Among them is the high key rate of the Central Bank, low profitability in the agricultural sector, insufficient financing of state support measures for farmers and manufacturers of machinery, as well as an increase in the cost of production of machinery and agricultural products. ACRA analysts estimate the profitability of the crop industry in 2024 at 20-25%, which is the lowest figure since 2019. This is due, among other things, to the need to increase labor costs due to their shortage both in the industry and in the country as a whole. Sales of self-propelled forage harvesters decreased especially noticeably - by 55.6% in unit terms. Sales of combine harvesters and agricultural tractors also fell by 51.5% and 44%, respectively. The increase in sales is observed only in four segments: machines for fertilizer application (6.5 times), balers (3.4 times), mowers (2.4 times) and reapers (5.7%). In the segment of imported agricultural machinery there is also a decline in sales, with a more significant - by about 60% compared to last year. This was announced by the Chairman of the Board of the Association of Dealers of Agricultural Machinery ASHOD Alexander Altynov. He suggests that in January, the process of importing agricultural machinery could almost stop. The association does not see the prerequisites for sales growth, on the contrary, the situation may even worsen. In December, the Russian government approved a long-term scale for indexing the utilization fee for certain types of agricultural machinery. The first indexation of rates, which was five times, occurred on January 1.
