In January-February of this year, attendance of shopping centers in Russia decreased by 3% year-on-year due to low rates of fashion retailers, Kommersant reports, citing data from Focus Technologies.
This is due to the abnormally warm winter and the lack of demand for warm clothes and shoes, as fashion retailers occupy 35-40% of the area of shopping centers. The downward trend was also recorded by the Union of Shopping Centers (STC), whose analysts point to a drop in shopping mall attendance in January by 4.2%, and in February by 6.3% compared to last year. The traffic of the respective stores in this period decreased by 8%, and in the southern regions the fall may be 10-15%, analysts say. Attendance of shopping centers in Moscow from February 24 to March 2 decreased by 1% compared to last year. In St. Petersburg, this figure decreased by 2%, Kommersant clarifies. Earlier it became known that the structure of the Swedish retailer H&M is planned to be liquidated in Russia until June 5, 2025. Factories "Gloria Jeans" will be bought by the manufacturer of workwear "Mace".
