📝 Summary

A new cargo terminal at the Nizhny Bestyakh railway station in Yakutia connected the railway line with a highway and a river berth, which will allow sending goods even to the most remote areas of the republic, the head of the cargo terminal Alexei Naumov and the head of the railway station Anatoly Borodin told in an exclusive interview with the Rossiya TV channel.

The village of Nizhny Bestyakh is located 15 kilometers from Yakutsk on the opposite bank of the Lena River. A railway line from the Trans-Siberian Railway and the Amur-Yakutsk Railway was brought to the village, in the future it is planned to build a bridge across the Lena and bring the railway to the capital of Yakutia. The cargo terminal at Nizhny Bestyakh station began to receive the first railway cargo, railway workers said. According to them, the launch of the terminal makes northern delivery faster and cheaper: the cargo will wait for the navigation season, then it will be delivered to its destination by river routes. “The location of the terminal is very good. It is located at the junction of the Lena, Kolyma and Amga highways, as well as the Amur-Yakutsk highway and inland waterways, said Alexei Naumov, head of the freight railway terminal. The path from the terminal station of the highway to the pier stretched for more than eight kilometers. It is here that hundreds of tons of cargo are processed daily. The movement of container trains began in 2024. Now the railway transports up to eight such trains per month, the volumes are planned to increase. “At present, up to 12 container trains will be shipped monthly at Nizhny Bestyakh station. From the point of view of direct railway / d-water communication, we plan to start active work in this direction to open navigation across the Lena River in May, said Anatoly Borodin, head of the Nizhny Bestyakh railway station. In October 2024, the construction of a unique bridge across the Lena began in Yakutsk. In the future, the Lensky Bridge will become part of a new transport corridor from Russia to the countries of the Asia-Pacific region.
