One of the two former officers of the Bureau of Special Technical Events of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, whom investigators of the Investigative Committee accused of a record bribe for Russia of 5 billion rubles, St. Petersburg citizen Dmitry Sokolov died. Documents about his death were presented by the heirs of the deceased.
According to the publication “Fontanka”, in January, the St. Petersburg notary required copies of sales contracts and additional agreements to them for seven real estate objects owned by Sokolov. As a basis, she prescribed the need to formalize a hereditary case on the property of Dmitry Alekseevich Sokolov, who died on July 9, 2024. On January 17 this year, records appeared in Rosreestr that seven real estate objects that were mentioned in the hereditary case changed owners. In Rosreestr says that he was issued "a certificate of ownership of a share in the common property of the spouses, issued to the surviving spouse, a certificate of inheritance rights by law." The corresponding entry applies to the apartment in St. Petersburg, in which Sokolov was registered. According to some reports, in the Northern capital, the ex-employee of the interior Ministry remained real estate at least 340 million rubles. Charges Dmitry Sokolov and his boss Georgy Satyukov were brought in October 2023 in absentia. They were accused of receiving a bribe from the administrator of the crypto exchange WEX Alexei Ivanov in the amount of 2119.5 bitcoin, at that time about 5 billion rubles. Sokolov and Satyukov fled abroad and were put on an international wanted list. Their property in Russia, in particular in Moscow and St. Petersburg, was seized. And now Sokolov’s heirs have presented documents about his death, issued in another country. From the point of view of the Russian legal system, he is officially dead with all the ensuing legal consequences.
