Russian Embassy in Ottawa: Ukraine issue to be solved without Canada

The Canadian foreign Ministry said that Russia offers Ukraine unrealistic peace terms. “Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s pro-war stance is well known. Fortunately, the Ukrainian issue will be resolved without the participation of Ottawa, the Russian Embassy said in response to a statement by the Canadian Foreign Ministry. The Russian and US delegations held talks on February 18 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Russia was represented by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov and the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) Kirill Dmitriev. On the US side, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Assistant to the US President for National Security Mike Waltz and Special Envoy of the US President Stephen Whitcoff participated in the negotiations. Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Jolie said after the end of Russian-American talks that Ottawa would like to participate in the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has called Canada an unviable country that believes it will be taken care of by America. The United States is paying hundreds of billions of dollars to subsidize Canada. “Without these massive subsidies, Canada will cease to exist as a viable country,” Trump wrote in Truth Social. Washington does not need to help Ottawa financially, because the United States can provide itself with energy, cars and timber.
