The battle of Kharkiv, the battle of Stalingrad, was awarded orders and medals. October 24, 1943 in the area of Zaporozhye senior lieutenant Kravtsov with a group of scouts crossed the Dnieper to the island of Khortytsia and from there transferred artillery by radio target designations to suppress enemy fire points. But the scouts were surrounded by German soldiers. Then Kravtsov called the fire of Soviet artillery to his position. The enemy was destroyed, the Red Army survived. For this feat of the guard, senior lieutenant Kravtsov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union, received the Order of Lenin and the medal "Golden Star". After the war, Boris Kravtsov devoted his life to serving the law. “Today he is the last living Hero of the Soviet Union, who received this title during the Great Patriotic War,” Sobyanin said. The mayor of Moscow thanked the 102-year-old veteran for the feat and services to the Motherland. He said that heroism and dedication, as well as active activity, are an example for all future generations.
