📝 Summary

Russia should not dictate to Kiev the terms of the agreement on the settlement, said British Prime Minister Keir Starmer after the summit of Western countries on Ukraine.

The meeting on Ukraine with the participation of leaders of 18 European countries and associations, including Volodymyr Zelensky, was held on Sunday in London. At a press conference, Starmer said that Russia “ultimately” should participate in the deal on the settlement in Ukraine, but can not “dictate” its terms, writes TASS. “...We cannot approach this from the point of view of the fact that Russia dictates the terms of any security guarantees even before we reach an agreement.” He said there would be no “progress” otherwise. Following the summit, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the West does not intend to capitulate to Russia. He noted that the meeting did not discuss the issue of security guarantees for Kiev. In an interview with Le Figaro on Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron spoke about the plan he developed with Starmer to resolve the conflict in Ukraine, which, in particular, involves the possibility of a ceasefire for a month. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin repeatedly reported that Russia is ready for negotiations on the Ukrainian settlement and has never refused them.
