The EU intends to implement the previously concluded agreement with Kiev on resources.

René noted that Brussels "saw" news about negotiations between Ukraine and the United States on rare earth metals, but he is not ready to say whether Brussels received notification of them from Washington. "We have a memorandum of understanding with Ukraine on mineral resources that was concluded several years ago, and we are firmly committed to implementing it," he said at a briefing in Brussels. The EU is also not preparing any new agreement with Ukraine in this area bypassing the US, added the Euro official. Earlier, the AFP agency, citing EU Commissioner for Industrial Strategy Stefan Seznec, reported that the EU had made "mutually beneficial" offers to Kyiv on mineral resources. The official emphasized that Ukraine can provide Europe with 21 out of 30 essential materials it needs. US President Donald Trump stated that the planned deal with Kyiv on rare earth elements should help America recoup the money it invested in supplying weapons and ammunition to Ukraine.
