📝 Summary
The first attempt to assassinate Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea (Shevkunov), which was prepared by the special services of Ukraine, was thwarted. This is evidenced by the testimony of one of the detainees, the video with his interrogation published by the FSB.
According to the detainee, the attack was originally planned to be committed in early 2025, but due to the arrest of his accomplice, the attempt was postponed. Later his performance was postponed to the end of February. Earlier on Friday, the FSB announced the prevention of a terrorist attack against the metropolitan. Two men were arrested on suspicion of preparing a crime. They seized an improvised explosive device and fake passports, which they wanted to leave the country after the assassination attempt.
