Ukrainian special services have targeted Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea because of his position on the causes of the armed conflict. This was stated on the air of “Russia 24” by the Chairman of the Synodal Department for Church Relations with Society and Media of the Moscow Patriarchate Vladimir Legoyda.
He noted that Tikhon has never hidden his attitude to the Ukrainian crisis. “I have always regarded the situation, on the one hand, as tragic and, on the other hand, as the result of the activities of external forces that purposefully sought a fratricidal conflict. And I think this was not the last reason that he became such a goal, said Vladimir Legoyda. He added that during the three years of a special military operation in the combat zone, six clergymen were killed. It is clear that the actions of the Ukrainian special services now extend to the territory where hostilities are not conducted. More precisely, there was an attempt to spread, this is not the first time, Legoyda said. Earlier, the FSB announced the prevention of a terrorist attack against the Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimean Tikhon. One of the detainees Denis Popovich admitted that he was recruited by GUR officers (the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine – approx. ed.). The terrorist act against the clergyman was planned to be committed in the residential premises of the Sretensky monastery in Moscow.
