Deputy former head of Rosnano Anatoly Chubais Boris Podolsky, arrested on charges of abuse of power, has foreign citizenship. This, according to the investigation, may indicate that he may abscond from justice.
According to the materials available to RIA Novosti, the investigation has reason to believe that Podolsky, being at liberty and having financial opportunities, as well as foreign citizenship, can escape from the investigation and court, destroy evidence or otherwise interfere with the investigation. Podolsky, as well as Artur Galstyan, managing director of finance at Rusnano, and Marina Kasenkova, director of accounting, taxation and reporting methodology, were arrested on February 1. All of them were charged under Part 3 of Article 285 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. Earlier, Podolsky’s lawyers insisted on transferring him from the detention center under house arrest. According to the investigation, in 2017, three top managers of Rusnano in order to hide the poor results of the company’s economic activities changed the classification of financial liabilities. Using distorted data, they provided false information about the allegedly satisfactory financial situation of JSC Rusnano, which allowed to avoid the withdrawal of previously issued state guarantees. They managed to attract additional funding, as a result of which the state had to allocate more than 43 billion rubles to the corporation in 2022-2024.
