📝 Summary

Alexander Domogarov portrayed the life story of the great Piero.

The musical-dramatic performance featuring songs by Alexander Vertinsky took place on the stage of the Estrada Theater. Alexander Domogarov read letters, poems, and memories. Elena Voroshilova attended the event. Old posters of Vertinsky, a worn suitcase, a Pierrot costume, a piano - this world of the great chansonnier attracted Alexander Domogarov like a magnet. The actor became seriously and deeply affected by it. Letters, diaries, memories, songs - everything that Vertinsky wrote, spoke, and sang became a part of this performance. "I do not put on the mask of the great Pierrot, I do not put on the mask of Alexander Nikolaevich Vertinsky. I will speak out loud his thoughts, his feelings, his experiences, which he personally left on paper," says People's Artist of Russia Alexander Domogarov. It all started with an album of Vertinsky's songs recorded by Alexander Domogarov. Then came the idea to tell the story of this remarkable personality. Evgeny Borets arranged the songs. "The musical task is for it to be Vertinsky, but at the same time Domogarov. No one is impersonating, no one is wearing the Pierrot costume, except for Andrey, but he does not sing. Therefore, these songs are perceived personally by me, as Alexander Yuryevich, experiencing his personal moments," says pianist and leader of the jazz quartet Evgeny Borets. In the mirror flashes the mask of Pierrot, reflecting the stage image of Vertinsky. Andrey Kislitsyn embodied this image, filled with so much brokenness and sadness. "In front of the mirror, I worked on what Vertinsky's hands could be like. What turn of the head. So that it was not just formal, externally grasped, but so that it had his depth, his essence," noted actor Andrey Kislitsyn. Artists and writers, Hollywood stars, Russian aristocrats tried to decipher his essence. Not knowing languages, leaving Russia for a long 25 years, Vertinsky challenged fate. Vertinsky's daughter Anastasia speaks of this endless nostalgia for the homeland. "Vertinsky longed for his homeland, and he had no other muse besides Russia. Although his songs are populated by various characters, women of different kinds, he still sang only about the Motherland," recalls Anastasia Vertinsky, People's Artist of the RSFSR and daughter of A. Vertinsky. Russia was and remains Vertinsky's muse. The place where his soul yearned to be. "The Great Pierrot of the 20th century" - that's what they called the chansonnier Alexander Vertinsky. He made art everywhere: turning a restaurant into a stage, a song into a story. 25 years in emigration, and everywhere Vertinsky sang in his native Russian. This is a story of wanderings and returns, of resistance to fate, of love, torment, and inspiration - the story of Vertinsky.
