Schiarchimandrite Ily was born in 1932 in the village of Stanova Kolodez, Orel region. As a confessor in the late 1980s, he was sent to the recovering Optina of the Deserts, which for 65 years was in desolation. Schiagumen Iliy for 20 years revived the senile ministry, which has always been famous for the monastery. In 2010, he was elevated to the rank of schiarchimandrite, is the confessor of Patriarch Kirill.
