The Mi-8 helicopter has joined the search for a reindeer herder who went missing on February 19. Prior to this, he had been searched for on the ground for four days, as reported by the regional Emergencies Ministry in their Telegram channel.

On February 21, the dispatch service of the village of Egvekinot reported that two days earlier, four people had left the village of Konergino for the reindeer herding brigade "Vozrozhdenie" on two snowmobiles. One of the vehicles broke down on the way, splitting the group. The two individuals whose snowmobile broke down walked back to the village. However, the driver and passenger of the second snowmobile - a 34-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman - went missing. A group of volunteers from Konergino immediately set out to search for them. They found the second snowmobile and the woman's body next to it, 25 km from the village. The search for the man continued for the next four days. Volunteers searched over 130 square kilometers. "On February 25, a Mi-8 helicopter from the airline "Chukotavia" with a group of rescuers was sent for search operations from the air," the department reported. Currently, the air temperature in the search area is approximately -25 degrees Celsius, with a wind speed of about 5 m/s.
