The young athlete from Volgograd made it to the final of such a high-level competition for the first time and took second place in fierce competition, setting a personal record of 8.52 seconds. Daria Andronova is the silver medalist of the Russian Junior Athletics Championship in the 60-meter hurdles event. "I'm almost a master now. Sasha Kopanova did it, and I hope to achieve it soon too," says Daria Andronova. She lost to Alexandra Kopanova from St. Petersburg by just seven hundredths of a second. In the junior competitions of the same event, the gaps were larger. Krasnodar's Vladislav Cheklyankov outpaced the silver medalist by 11 hundredths of a second. Vladislav Cheklyankov is the winner of the Russian Junior Athletics Championship in the 60-meter hurdles event. The juniors competed to determine the strongest in the country over three days. For Volgograd, Daria Andronova's medal in the national championship remained the only one. However, there were also all-Russian competitions among boys and girls under 16 years old. Here, our athletes won six medals. The winter season for track and field athletes is busy. The Russian Championship starts in Moscow on Friday.
