At the end of February, winter decided to show its character. It will, of course, retreat, March is just around the corner. And only art can give it eternity. Winter on the canvases of artists is not uncommon. The most magical time of year inspires creativity in various genres. Our correspondent will tell you about the place winter occupies in the work of Ossetian masters. Winter is such an extraordinary time of year. It is mysterious and unpredictable, but always anticipated and loved. The beauty of winter is unique. Its grandeur is so incomparable that it seems impossible to fully convey all this splendor in art. But for talented and original artists of Ossetia, nothing is impossible. This is evidenced by the different, but uniquely special depictions of winter in their works. Paintings that exude the winter atmosphere are rich in various techniques. Each artist sees snowy landscapes and coziness in their own way. The snow itself on the masters' canvases always looks different. Some strive to convey the frosty oppression, using colder shades, while others see winter as more bright and magical, infusing warmth into the painting with warmer tones. The most important thing any creator considers is that snow is never just white. Honored Artist of Russia Yuri Abisalov finds such a harsh time of year festive and soothing. According to the master, genre compositions, namely depictions of everyday reality, hold a special place in his heart. Therefore, winter in Yuri Abisalov's works is always filled with the joy of ordinary people. Yuri Abisalov, Honored Artist of Russia: "For me, winter is primarily about New Year holidays and New Year festivities. Khadzaronta, Basilta - they go through my whole life. Why? Because it's joy, it's laughter, it's a carnival." The magic of the national color of Yuri Abisalov's easel painting impresses with the depth of feelings. Winter for the master is exclusively folk motifs that remind him of home. Yuri Abisalov, Honored Artist of Russia: "What is associated with fairy tales, legends, humor, and fun - it fascinates me a lot because I always think that if a person hangs my painting at home, it should be pleasant for them to look at, to feel warm and cheerful in life." When people look at winter, they always see something of their own. Especially when it comes to abstract art. Winter is rarely seen in the works of the Honored Artist of North Ossetia Vladimir Aylarov. Perhaps, it is his only painting depicting the most magical time of year. The master has his own vision. Showing the frost, he skillfully immerses the viewer in an atmosphere of warmth and coziness. Vladimir Aylarov, Honored Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania: "When I was painting it, I imagined the view from the window. But, for example, it's not interesting anymore. At the learning stage, when you are interested in realistically depicting nature. I just wanted to convey the feeling when you are indoors, and outside the window is a sunny winter day. Snow, sun, and you imagine, buildings of different colors and white snow. And when the sun shines, all these glares - it's so interesting, beautiful. And the feeling of warmth, specifically winter warmth." Georgy Sarkisyan was inspired by the ancient Ossetian concept of winter as death. Despite its beauty, it has its flaws, which the master successfully transferred onto the canvas. Georgy Sarkisyan, a fourth-year student at the Vladikavkaz Art School named after A. Dzhanayev: "I wanted to describe the heavy struggles of the Caucasus residents, how they went through it all. And it seems to me that this plot became closer to me than all the others, so I chose it for my work." For some, winter always remains cold and harsh, while others diligently seek a ray of happiness in it. Sarmat Kalagov's work embodies hope in the winter chill. Despite depicting a storm in his painting, a glimmer of light is still captured. Sarmat Kalagov, a fourth-year student at the Vladikavkaz Art School named after A. Dzhanayev: "I showed in my work not strong severity. I painted it quite brightly, and wanted to convey that even in such harsh times there is a ray of hope, a ray of salvation." Winter is a time when nature seems to freeze, but there is a special beauty in it, which every artist sees in their own way. For a true creator, ice, frost, and snow are not just natural phenomena, but a whole metaphor for human emotions.
