The Preobrazhensky court of Moscow has arrested the former footballer of the national team of Azerbaijan Abdulla Abatiyev on charges of fraud on an especially large scale.
It is noted that the court, having satisfied the petition of the investigation, sent Abatiyev to the pre-trial detention center until March 17, 2025. This is reported by RIA Novosti, citing court materials. According to some media reports, 31-year-old Abdulla Abatiyev was detained on January 24, 2025. According to the investigation, the crime, to which he may be involved, occurred on January 15. On that day, the attackers called the victim, introduced themselves as employees of the FSB and Mosenergosbyt and convinced the pensioner to give the courier 14 million rubles. According to preliminary data, it was Abatiev who became that courier. The man is accused of fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), under this article the punishment is 10 years imprisonment. Abatiyev is charged with “committing a group grave crime against the property of elderly persons”. 31-year-old Abdulla Abatiyev is an ex-player of the youth teams of Azerbaijan, he played as a midfielder. For the youth team of Azerbaijan, he played six matches, played one match in the national team of Azerbaijan.
