Friendship Chaliapin and Serov dedicated to the exhibition in Ufa

The Ufa Museum of Music named after Fyodor Chaliapin opened an exhibition dedicated to the friendship of the famous bass with Valentin Serov. The artist who designed the theatrical productions created many vivid images for Chaliapin. The exposition presents photos of the singer in stage costumes and sketches for them. But they were connected not only by joint work: similar characters and views on art, they were close friends, together went to relax in nature. Serov repeatedly portrayed Chaliapin – his graphic portrait of 1905 is considered one of the most famous lifetime images of Fyodor Ivanovich. The exhibition was organized by the museum-reserve "Abramtsevo" - the painter and singer were frequent guests of the Mamontov estate. Savva Ivanovich Mamontov was the founder of the first private opera in Russia, in which Chaliapin sang. Chaliapin and Serov met at the Mamontov Theater. And in his memoirs about Serov, Chaliapin wrote: how theatrical Serov is, how much he manages to grasp the content, or rather the idea of a particular role, said Elena Mitrofanova, deputy director for science at the Abramtsevo Museum-Reserve.
