FT: the United States gave up full control of the special Fund in the framework of the deal with Kiev

The previous version of the agreement stipulated that Kiev would give up half of its profits from minerals, including rare earth metals, gas and oil, as well as revenues from ports and other infrastructure. The funds were to be sent to a special fund, 100% controlled by the United States. The size of the fund Washington proposed to set at $ 500 billion. That is how much, according to US President Donald Trump, Kiev should reimburse the United States for its assistance. “These conditions, which Ukrainian officials called unacceptable, have been removed from the new draft,” the newspaper said. One Ukrainian official, who asked to remain anonymous, told British reporters that Kiev was ready to sign the agreement when it received security guarantees from the United States. Another source said that in the current draft of the agreement, Washington demands significant commitments from Kiev. At the same time, the proposals of the American side, in his opinion, are “very weak”. Earlier, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that the deal between the United States and Kiev implies guarantees of American investments in the economy of Ukraine, but does not contain military guarantees. Bessent expects the head of the Kiev regime, Volodymyr Zelensky, to sign the document. Donald trump announced Washington’s intention to compensate the funds allocated to support Ukraine, at the expense of its natural resources and “all that can get”.
