📝 Summary

The next early elections in Germany can be held as early as 2027, said the co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) Tino Kruballa. This will happen if the future chancellor of the winning Christian Democratic Union (CDU) Friedrich Merz continues to pursue a failed policy.

According to Merz, if his policies fail, populists will come to power in the 2029 elections. Friedrich Merz probably hinted at the AfD and the Sarah Wagenknecht Union. “I would argue with Mr. Merz,” said Tino Kruballa. I think if his policy fails, it will happen in 2027. Kruballa assured that the AfD is ready to cooperate with any party wishing Germany well. He accused Merz of creating obstacles for this, reports RIA Novosti. In particular, Merz mentioned the so-called firewalls – blank walls of non-combustible materials that prevent the passage of fire from one building to another. In politics, the term firewall was coined by Friedrich Merz. In its vocabulary, this means non-cooperation, the creation of a political cordon, isolation. “I can’t tear down the wall that my neighbor built on his property,” Kruballa said. The co-chairman of Alternative for Germany stressed that it is necessary to remain calm and clearly articulate the party’s positions and interests. At the same time, he added that the East Germans already “know how to deal with walls”, they can give courage to citizens in the West of Germany. If voters leave other parties en masse, the ruling parties will turn to the AfD, Tino Kruballa believes. “Alternative for Germany” in the elections on February 23, 2025 in the territory of the ex-GDR doubled its performance and bypassed other political competitors. It received 20.8% of the vote across Germany. The Christian Democrats and the Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) won 28.6% of the vote.
