Dreams of a city for people will definitely become a reality. NovSU students were given the opportunity to present their own vision of Novgorod in the perspective of the next decade. Young professionals are playing like adults. Six teams were allocated three problematic areas, which undoubtedly fuels a sense of healthy competition. These areas became the outskirts of Grigorovo, Derevyanitsy, and Yuryevo. The latter plans to transform team number five. Meanwhile, the potential of 60 hectares belonging to the Rakomsky rural settlement is being wasted due to seasonal flooding and overgrown shrubbery. Such a project is being launched in Russia for the first time. The choice of our city-university was not accidental, it is the result of lengthy discussions at all levels of government - from municipal to federal. The goals are not only to create comfortable conditions for Novgorod residents, but also to attract youth to important matters, reduce their outflow to other regions, and create a reserve of personnel. Discussions on master plans began in November, and the final projects will be submitted for competition in April. Right now, in the midst of work, interim results are being summarized. Taking into account the wishes of Novgorod residents and experienced urban planners, students presented their work to the public. Not just in words, but on paper, their idea will finally be evaluated by potential investors. Furthermore, as a stimulus, representatives of the regional government noted that quality work should be paid for. Anastasia Bibikova.
