In Veliky Novgorod, an exhibition of photographs "Behind the Headlines" has opened.

For the anniversary of the start of the special military operation, an exhibition titled "Behind the News Summaries" opened at the Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibition features around 50 photographs taken by photographers and journalists from Novgorod in 2024 during their visit to the ATO zone, where Novgorod residents serve. The photos were mainly taken during the delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. The first public photo report of this kind took place exactly a year ago, also within the walls of the Novgorod Museum-Preserve. As emphasized by the museum's director, Sergey Bryun, this is not just an opportunity to showcase photos documenting the war, its heroes, and the lives of our new compatriots, but also another opportunity to pay tribute to the courage of our soldiers. This is the second photo exhibition, essentially a social project aimed at drawing attention to the participants of the special military operation, those who have already returned home, and of course, the soldiers who are still on the front lines. Additionally, the project serves as a vivid demonstration of solidarity from Novgorod residents towards the inhabitants of the new territories who currently struggle without our sincere assistance. The anticipation and gratitude with which they await this help can be clearly seen in the presented photographs. This exhibition showcases documentary evidence of everyday life as seen by Novgorod journalists and photographers Konstantin Rastoropov, Petr Samusov, Vadim Smirnov, Galina Soboleva, and Sergey Suftin. And this is just a small part of the materials they brought back from their assignments while gathering news summaries. You can experience their impressions by viewing the works on display at the Museum of Fine Arts until May 11th.
