"We went further - we are absolutely convinced that a woman should have the right, not the duty, but the right, if necessary, to go on maternity leave literally after she registered in the women's consultation," Mironov said. He noted that it is sometimes very difficult for expectant mothers to work during this period, and sometimes working conditions can lead to possible problems for the health of the child. Although the idea of leaving for maternity leave after the 12th week of pregnancy for medical reasons, the former chief doctor of the Russian Federation Gennady Onishchenko called "stupidity". Let me stress again that this is not an obligation. And now women go on maternity leave in 70 days. Even the last three months a woman can afford to spend on maternity leave. We believe that given the very difficult demographic situation in our country, this decision is absolutely correct.
