Deputies of the Novgorod City Duma held an extraordinary meeting

Only one question was put on the agenda - on amending the Regulations on the title "Honorary Citizen of Veliky Novgorod". It is assumed that this title will be awarded to all participants of the Great Patriotic War living in the regional center. The lists are now being clarified, but these are more than twenty front-line soldiers. At the moment, we are considering the possibility of introducing a simplified procedure into our Regulations on Honorary Citizens of Veliky Novgorod. Just so now to get "Honorary citizen of Veliky Novgorod" is quite difficult. There are a lot of filtering elements, a lot of commissions. The process, let’s put it bluntly, is delayed for about a year. Now, at the present time, veterans of the Great Patriotic War need the gratitude, the attention that is associated primarily with the 80th anniversary of our Victory, said Konstantin Somov, Chairman of the Duma of Veliky Novgorod. The addition to the current Regulation was supported by almost all deputies, only a representative of the Yabloko faction voted against it. According to the amendments, the awarding of the title “Honorary Citizen of Veliky Novgorod” to veterans of the Great Patriotic War will be carried out according to a simplified procedure. To do this, you will only need a petition from the mayor, a certificate of residence and consent to the processing of personal data.
