Monument to former Azerbaijani President Heydar Aliyev laid in Moscow
In Moscow near the Embassy of Azerbaijan laid a monument to the former President of the Republic, twice Hero of Socialist Labor Heydar Aliyev. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Prime Minister Saveliev, Moscow Mayor Sobyanin, General Director of Russian Railways Belozerov and Honored Builder of Russia Basin. The footage was shown on the air of the TV channel “Russia 24”.

The head of the Azerbaijan SSR made a great contribution to the creation of the Baikal-Amur highway. All participants of the ceremony spoke about his role in this grand construction. “The community of BAM builders asked to build a monument to one of the main organizers of this construction. The Moscow City Duma Commission decided to support this request, Sergei Sobyanin shared. Heydar Aliyev received the Order of Lenin five times. In addition, he was awarded the Order of the Red Star, medals, twice awarded the title of Hero of Socialist Labor. “We honor the memory of our predecessors and are very grateful to Heydar Aliyev. We even consider him our railwayman, said Russian Railways Director General Oleg Belozerov. The national leader of Azerbaijan has been the president of the republic since 1993. In 2003, he accepted the candidacy, but due to health problems withdrew it in favor of his son, the current President Ilham Aliyev. In 2024, during his visit to Azerbaijan, Russian leader Vladimir Putin laid flowers at the grave of Heydar Aliyev.
