Russia is interested in increasing supplies of various products from Myanmar due to relatively low prices, Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov said in an interview with Rossiya TV channel.
According to the minister, now Russia successfully imports from Myanmar vegetables, fruits, coffee, tea, rice, as well as textile products and leather products. We are interested in increasing supplies, because there is obviously a much lower level of wages than in our country. Therefore, of course, everything that is labor-intensive can be developed in order to supply our market and thereby restrain the price. We must understand that the development of trade is primarily and mainly a contribution to the fight against inflation. The more our foreign trade will be in this regard, the more restrained prices will grow, Reshetnikov said. On February 23, it became known that Russia and Myanmar signed a memorandum on investment cooperation between the two countries in the Dawei Special Economic Zone.
