Rubio: Hostile resolutions of the UN General Assembly will not help resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that hostile resolutions of the UN General Assembly do not contribute to the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.

📝 Summary

Hostile resolutions of the UN General Assembly do not contribute to the resolution of the conflict in Ukraine, said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

He added that the United States had tried to bring Ukraine to their side and had promoted a resolution in the General Assembly with neutral wording, expressing sympathy for all those who had died in the conflict and calling for an end to the conflict. However, the Kiev regime wanted to promote their own version of the document. "We did not consider that adopting anything hostile to either side in the UN would contribute to [resolving the conflict]," Rubio said. According to the US Secretary of State, they want to remind that the goal of the UN is to end conflicts, not hinder their resolution. He believes that the wordings proposed by the United States could contribute to peace. On February 24, the UN General Assembly adopted an anti-Russian resolution on Ukraine prepared by the EU and Kiev. The draft was supported by 93 countries, 18 countries voted against it, including the US, and 65 countries abstained from voting. Russia's Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, called this resolution an "anti-Russian piece of paper." According to him, Europe remains the only international player that wants to continue the conflict in Ukraine and resists any proposals for its resolution. Later, the UN Security Council supported the American version of the resolution, which does not contain accusations against Moscow in connection with the conflict in Ukraine.
