Russian Permanent Representation to the EU: sanctions have caused more damage to Europe than to Russia.

On February 24, the European Union adopted another, 16th, package of sanctions against our country, which includes 48 individuals and 35 legal entities from Russia. "The numerous 'packages' of sanctions adopted to suit the political conjuncture have obviously not achieved the goals declared by the initiators, causing much greater damage to the European Union itself than to our country," said the post representative. They noted that the restrictions have played a stimulating role for the Russian industry and the development of new technologies. "At the same time, the EU has destroyed trade and economic relations with Russia, deprived itself of reliable supplies of cheap domestic energy resources, and access to the vast Russian market," pointed out the diplomatic representation. The post emphasized that the actions of the leadership have negatively affected the competitiveness of the European economy and the well-being of ordinary Europeans. "The latest illegitimate restrictions against Russia follow the consistently confrontational and doomed to failure course of the EU, which contradicts the fundamental interests of its member states and their citizens," emphasized Russian diplomats. Earlier, the press secretary of the President of Russia, Dmitry Peskov, stated that the latest package of EU sanctions against Russia was predictable.
